Just for my own amusement, I downloaded and installed v2.0 of the optimized apps, and after appropriate renaming, ran the " "short" benchmark tests (with Simon's Automatic Installer). On my Core2 machine, the old apps did the test WU in about 42 seconds; the 2.0 apps were able to do it in about 29 seconds. Wow! But as Simon has pointed out, the 2.0 apps run at roughly the same speed when processing real-world WUs as the Core2-optimized version, which is only slightly faster than the SSE2/SSE3 versions of the client. So my question is, why is the 2.0 app so much faster (30%) on the test WU, but about the same speed as the older apps on real WUs? Just curious. And the final question, will there be a C2D version 2.0?

There is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.- Douglas Adams
