Guess most machines don't stay in Seti long...
« on: 18 Aug 2006, 04:03:50 pm »

Was looking around at percentages of CPUs used...etc over at Boinc Synergy site...Since the numbers by the sort I used are fairly low, I would guess that most machines don't stay in Seti long...

Found one of my old machines Intel P4, Pentium-IV, 2799Mhz, (Prescott-F34-0) is still in the top 24 for highest "total credit - per machine".  (Note: Back then I modified BOINC and got it to ID CPUs more exactly)

Oh...and Francois has now hidden his computers for some reason...but his computer is still crunching away
...by my count Flopcounter=12659775285071.240000  over CPU time=4318.546875  == 2.931 Gflops  x 4cores = 11.725 Gflops on his machine  Shocked

Francois's Seti posts and account became front-page news at The Inquirer.net a couple of days ago.
http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=33736
They posted links to his S@H account and profile as confirmation that Kentsfield was in the wild.

His sudden celebrity status may have made him more visible than he wished.
He hasn't posted since.

My question in this...is there any way to prove that it is a Quad Core?? and not 2 dual cores, 2 CPUs w/HT or 4 single CPUs??  From what it looks like S@H just registers the number of CPUs and the name assigned to the processor, which can be changed (i.e. before I flashed my bios my CPU showed up as an "Authentic AMD" @ 2.41GHz and had 2 CPUs.

Now if there is another way to analyze/view people's computers I would be interested in knowing how.

Either way if Intel can get their Quad core CPUs out by Q4....................Dual cores will be crazy cheap and become standard!!! Not to mention the fact that AMD will be in a world of hurt!
