Linux 2.2B applications do not work on RHEL3 (2.4 kernel) and other older system
« on: 30 Mar 2007, 02:12:31 pm »

Public announcement notice:  currently available SAH v2.2b applications do not run on RHEL3 (2.4 kernel) and other older 2.4-kernel based systems.

An attempt to run a "statified" version available from this website results in error -11 and instant crash.

Dynamic versions provided by Crunch3r require glibc2.3.4 libraries and do not run either.

Subject to change when the issues are addresses, of course, but it's valid today.

Seems as if could fix that one too. We're running some test's on RHEL 2.4 Kernel atm and i'm fortuned that it'll work.

Looks good.

I have a machine that is running Red Hat 9, and trying to run the 2.2b for kernel 2.4 causes an 0x2 error in BOINC/S@H, and checking on the errored result shows that the 2.2b app couldn't be found, even though it's where it should be. The processor is an AMD Duron 1000MHz w/SSE and 3DNOW capabilities. The glibc that is installed on the system is glibc2.3.2.

Info from stdoutdae:

To be on the safe side, you can try to run the app manually from command line. I recommend that you create a temporary folder and copy app over. Then start app from that folder. App normally creates some files and it's a matter of ethics to delete them afterwards. It's just pain in the arse to find them if you don't know which ones are they. This way you just remove entire folder when done.

I'm quite positive that app has to have execute bit set (chmod a+x KWSN-R2.2B-SSE).

As to the version of libraries: I'm successfully running KWSN-R2.2B-SSE2-P4 on Debian Etch that has Glibc 2.3.2 but indeed runs kernel 2.6.

If it fails to run in manual mode, please post the output ...
